Niagara Falls

May 2013, I took off two days from work to tour Niagara Falls and New York City with my grandparents.

The Maid of the Mist is a famous 30 min boat ride that leaves every 15 minutes. The boats are named Maids VI and VII and can accommodate up to 600 passengers. Prices and schedule are listed here. This was the second time I visited the falls and it was also my second time on the Maid of the Mist.  I guarantee you, this is totally worth every penny! The boat takes you directly to the falls and you get an amazing view of the two falls. The boat company provides everyone a blue raincoat, but you’re still going to get wet. I highly recommend wearing sandals and make sure you get on the top level of the boat! Personally, I think the best spot is either on the left or the right side of the second level. Only because if you’re too up-front you are going to get absolutely drenched and if you’re too behind, your view will be a bit blocked by the boat.

After the boat tour, we took the bus to Skylon tower. This was also the second time I went to the top. The view is incredible and the ticket prices are very reasonable. The first time I visited here, I went to the top at night. This trip, we went just before sunset. Based on the two trips, I think the view is better during the day.

We also went to the nearby imax theater to watch a historical film on Niagara. Not bad. You can even get an earpiece and hear the story in Korean if you wanted to.

Dinner was at a Korean restaurant, not too far from the hotel. We all had 감자탕 and it was SOOO good. We checked into the Crowne Plaza hotel for the night. You can see the view of the falls from your room!  Jack and I went out to get some Canadian beer. Canadian Molson. So good. We also got maple crown royal.

We finished the night with fireworks over Niagara. Slowly working on mastering that night photography! The morning after, we had breakfast at the hotel on the 10th floor. Great view of the falls. It was raining the next morning, but it cleared up later.
